Pre-release terms

These are plain-language development-stage terms. No public app build is currently available. Final terms require legal review before a commercial launch.

Development software

An internal FoldCrypt development build exists. It may contain errors, behave unexpectedly, or change without notice. It is not a public release and must not be used as the only protection for critical, regulated, or irreplaceable data.

Back up first

Maintain a verified backup before protecting a folder. FoldCrypt does not replace backup software. If both the password and recovery key are lost, FoldCrypt cannot recover the folder.

Current build status

FoldCrypt is still being completed and tested. The website does not currently distribute an installer, app archive, or public beta. A release build must be signed and notarized before distribution.

No security guarantee

AES-256 is one part of the security design, not a promise of absolute security. Malware, an already-open folder, weak passwords, lost backups, and access to the Mac can create risks outside the app's protection.

Feedback

Anyone specifically invited to a private test may provide feedback without including confidential folder names, passwords, recovery keys, personal files, or other secrets.

Optional support

A contribution made through PayPal supports independent development. It is voluntary, does not purchase a FoldCrypt license, does not unlock features, and is not presented as a tax-deductible charitable donation.
